Hearty thanks to John H. Donovan of 5pieces for passing on this link, which raised a smile in the midst of all the post-Budget work. It’d be great if this product were available much, much more cheaply. I could use a bunch of them then.

Wouldn’t it be easier to make your own by cutting and hollowing a cork (you should have a few there) and inserting a short USB memory stick in to it?
I’ll have a word with the company cabinet maker. Presumably the electronic part can be bought, as it were, naked in (smallish) bulk?
It might be easier to check something like instructibles / instructables .com or makemagazine. I know there are tutorials to hollow out stuffed toys and/or pez tops for USB keys. I remember seeing a similar recycling of Halloween body parts. Should also work for corks, or even promotional wine bottles. Every corkscrew could also be a USB memory business cards with a shortcut to your site.
Thanks for the advice. You never know.
Given cork’s reputation, it will probably ruin about 7-10% of the files stored on the USB key.
I’ll wait for the one with the screw-off cap.

Hi Gerry, I must have been so busy laughing I forgot to reply – or posted my amusement somewhere else. Dry and crisp, sir.
Hi Julian
I’m pretty sure we could supply these USB’s. It depends on quantity but price would be a fraction of that on the link.
Let me know if interested .
The website is fab.

Hello Bob, Good to see you on the blog, and thanks for kind remarks about the website. I’ll bear your suggestion in mind for future reference. In the meantime, anyone else who’s interested in that kind of thing should have a look at what you do on your own site.
