BRIGHTWATER, Nelson Sauvignon Blanc
BRIGHTWATER, Nelson Sauvignon Blanc

Even by the standards of excellence we have come to expect from New Zealand Sauvignons, this is a stunning example from Gary and Valley Neale's Nelson vineyards. Gooseberry and passionfruit blend on the nose with nettle and elder, and in the mouth complex melon and citrus flavours evolve and develop into a lingering dry, grassy finish. So very special. And here's a review of the 2007 vintage from the pen of Valley Neale:

2007 was a low cropping year and the wine at this very early stage is highly aromatic showing a very intense, what we refer to as a sweat or matchstick character. This particular character is a real highlight of Sauvignon Blanc and we don't get it every year. I find it really attractive and have been told that woman find this particular character somewhat like a male pheromone and therefore very attractive. I have no scientific evidence of this of course to back it up!! The 2007 is still full bodied and very pungent with a long lingering finish just like the 2006. I think your customers who like our style of Sauvignon Blanc will not be disappointed at all.

And the same degree of satisfaction goes for the recently introduced 2008, according to 'early adopters'.
