Sake and Shochu
The appetite for oriental and fusion cuisines is often supported on the drinks menu by the same handful of branded beers, when in fact there are plenty of more exciting options available.
Bubble Brothers have developed a range of sake, shochu and plum wine to complement Asian cuisine both for our restaurant customers and for those who like to wield a wok at home.
We're learning as we go, and our list is liable to change according to availability and popularity: but we aim always to have something different and interesting.
Sake
The famous rice-based alcohol, made by a method closer to that of brewing beer than of winemaking, comes in a huge variety of styles and qualities, and can be served cold, warm, or hot. To see our sake list, please follow this link.
Shochu
Japan's other indigenous alcoholic beverage, unlike sake, is distilled, and can be made from a variety of raw materials. Its taste is far less fruity than that of sake, and much more 'nutty' or 'earthy'. It's as versatile as more familiar clear spirits, and can be drunk straight or mixed. Plum wine
This is a drink made by steeping ume plums in shochu or a similar alcohol to give a pleasantly neutral, slightly off-dry 'liqueur', with numerous reputed benefits for the health of body and soul. To see our plum wines, please follow this link.
iKi beer
This is a Japanese-style beer, exclusively imported by Bubble Brothers, which has a growing following and reputation thanks to a fresh, invigorating flavour that comes from the addition of green tea and the citrus yuzu fruit to the recipe. You can see the product and details by following this link.
