Les Cinq Pattes Bordeaux Blanc 2009 (33% Sauvignon, 33% Sémillon, 34% Muscadelle) Thankfully this wine is much easier to lay hands on than the five-limbed sheep on its label. Its fruity, fresh aromas are broader and more floral than those of Loire Valley Sauvignons, thanks to the mellowing influence of Sémillon and the grapey contribution of Muscadelle, giving a typical, but excellent, Bordeaux blanc. The combination of vivacity, satisfying weight and relatively low alcohol (12%) makes this a great wine to serve as an aperitif or at a party - but that's not to say it doesn't fit the bill for relaxed dining too.
