Medium bodied, dry, unoaked varietal white with savoury notes of grapefruit, dry honey, chalk, and the apple peel that is so characteristic of the little-seen mauzac grape.
Domaine Pialentou shows best alongside traditional, white fare; e.g. battered cod and chips, simple roast chicken.
1. MAUZAC - or more properly mauzac blanc (there are pink and red versions too) - is a grape found mainly in two French appellations - Gaillac and Limoux - where it gives fresh, aromatic wines.
2. Archaeological evidence suggests that GAILLAC may have been one of the first viticultural centres of ancient France, with production well established in the 1st century AD (long before Bordeaux).
The appellation’s vineyard area has grown strongly from 1,600ha in 1990 to about 2,700ha by the mid 2000s. Land here is fairly inexpensive, which is reflected in the well-priced wines. The district is distinguished by its rich heritage of local vine varieties (Len de L'el, ondenc, duras, and braucol are others here you won't have heard of)|, as well as by its atypical diversity of wine styles: red, white, sparkling (which itself comes a number of intriguing ways), sweet, and vin jaune. The quality of still mauzac has soared in recent years.

We deliver anywhere on the island of Ireland, using Fastway. Your wines should be with you within 2 days of ordering but it can take up to 5 days at peak times (Christmas especially).
There is no delivery charge for our pre-mixed cases whether of six or twelve bottles, or on orders over €120 (after discounts). Orders of less than this value incur a flat charge of €10.
You can collect your order from our Marina Business Park shop (choose 'Pick up - at Marina' on the Checkout page) - allow one working day for us to process your order. We recommend phoning before you make your journey to check that your order is ready, as there may be a slight delay if we need to order it from the bonded warehouse.
If you are not at home to receive your delivery the courier will try to ring you before returning your parcel to the depot; or, provided you have given your express consent to this in advance, may attempt to leave the wine with a neighbour. A signature is required to complete the delivery at all times.
You can cancel an order for up to 7 days after you receive the wine (just call us) but you may be liable for the cost of returning the stock to us, depending on the circumstances.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery. Claims for breakages (etc) will be entertained only if Bubble Brothers is given notification within two days of delivery.
Faulty (i.e. oxidised, 'corked') wines are a fact of life in wine (though the incidence is much reduced, thankfully). If you detect an issue with a wine we've sent you, call us and we will replace the bottle without quibble.
