Lovely bouquet of acacia flowers, pear, lemon peel and grapefruit. Light body, with a delicate, persistent mousse and a fresh, tingly finish. Just divine!
Enjoy on its own, as an aperitif, or with lighter meals and desserts.
Glera is the EU-approved name for the white prosecco grape of NE Italy. The name change occurred in 2009, when the Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene region was promoted to DOCG status and the Italian authorities decided that Prosecco should only be used as a geographical indication. Glera, the historical name for prosecco, was chosen to avoid confusion between the prosecco region and grape variety.
It seems reasonable to suggest that the variety is named after the town of Prosecco, near the Italian-Slovenian border. As far as the Italians (and the EU) are concerned, Prosecco may only be produced in the Prosecco DOC region and the two DOCGs of Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and Asolo Prosecco-Colli Asolani. Anything else made from the same variety must be referred to as 'Glera'.
Outside of Italy, glera is grown in Slovenia and Australia (the King Valley, especially).
We deliver anywhere on the island of Ireland, using Fastway. Your wines should be with you within 2 days of ordering but it can take up to 5 days at peak times (Christmas especially).
There is no delivery charge for our pre-mixed cases whether of six or twelve bottles, or on orders over €120 (after discounts). Orders of less than this value incur a flat charge of €10.
You can collect your order from our Marina Business Park shop (choose 'Pick up - at Marina' on the Checkout page) - allow one working day for us to process your order. We recommend phoning before you make your journey to check that your order is ready, as there may be a slight delay if we need to order it from the bonded warehouse.
If you are not at home to receive your delivery the courier will try to ring you before returning your parcel to the depot; or, provided you have given your express consent to this in advance, may attempt to leave the wine with a neighbour. A signature is required to complete the delivery at all times.
You can cancel an order for up to 7 days after you receive the wine (just call us) but you may be liable for the cost of returning the stock to us, depending on the circumstances.
All goods must be examined at the time of delivery. Claims for breakages (etc) will be entertained only if Bubble Brothers is given notification within two days of delivery.
Faulty (i.e. oxidised, 'corked') wines are a fact of life in wine (though the incidence is much reduced, thankfully). If you detect an issue with a wine we've sent you, call us and we will replace the bottle without quibble.
